Exilé - The Banned Bubbles

Born just outside the region that shall not be named, Exilé is not just a sparkling wine—it’s a statement. Crafted in the Châtillonnais region, the birthplace of some of the earliest sparkling wines, we make bubbles that rival the best, but without the price tag.

We use the same méthode traditionelle, the same grapes and chalky soil as our famous neighbors. But because someone drew a line on a map in 1919, we’re not allowed to call it Ch**pagne. So, we call it Exilé—because if you’re going to be cast aside, you might as well own it.

The Châtillonnais - The Forgotten Birthplace of Bubbles

The Châtillonnais region in northern Burgundy has been making wine for centuries—long before Champagne claimed all the fame. The monks and winemakers here knew that the chalky soil and cool climate were perfect for sparkling wine. And they were right.

For years, Châtillonnais thrived. But when the Champagne AOC was drawn up, politics, not quality, decided who got to use the name. Châtillonnais was cut out, left to continue making incredible wines in the shadows.

Fast forward to today, and the region is making a comeback. Small, independent winemakers are proving that great sparkling wine doesn’t care about borders—and Exilé is here to make sure you don’t either.

We’re Koen and Maarten, friends who believe wine should be about what’s inside the bottle, not the label on it. No need to brag, no need to chase prestige—just great food, great company, and great wine, enjoyed the right way.

Koen, the ever-curious connoisseur, brings his deep appreciation for quality and entrepreneurial drive where Maarten, the sometimes overthinking strategist, adds a spark of rebellion and eye for detail, making sure Exilé isn’t just a wine—it’s a statement.
